November Favourites

The months seem to be going quicker and quicker and once again we cannot believe we are already writing our November favourites. This month has been especially busy as we have been planning and writing so many BLOGMAS posts.

See below some of our November favourites that we thought deserved a special mention!

Protein Pancakes- we have been making protein pancakes nearly every weekend this month and it has been great! They are a great refuel after the gym and are incredibly filling as well. We have been using My Protein powder in our pancakes which we absolutely love! We have really enjoyed experimenting with the flavours and so far we have had desiccated coconut (see recipe here), vanilla & Cinnamon (see recipe here). We have a really exciting recipe coming up next month so stay tuned you won’t want to miss it!

Twitter & Twitter Chats- We have always dedicated so much of our time to Instagram and the blog that Twitter took a back seat. It is only recently that we have started using Twitter a lot more and we love it. It’s a lot easier to engage with people on twitter we have joined in on so many twitter chats almost every night of the week. We have learnt so much about the blogging world that we didn’t know about previously! Some great chats to join are; #chattybees #GRLPOWR #prettylittlechat #thegirlgang #lbloggers Chats usually happen in the evening, there’s always chats happening on a Sunday night (GMT) which we love to join as it’s a nice way to end the weekend! There are also chats during the week, we usually join on a Wednesday night. Can you suggest any other chats?

Pinafore dresses- We love that that pinafore dresses are in fashion this season! Once again Primark have a great selection including leather, suede and cord. We have picked up a couple of the leather and cord dresses and have literally lived in them this month. H&M have some lovely denim pinafores that we have put on our Christmas list! We also spied some cute pinafore dresses in Forever 21, including a fab denim one! They would look perfect with a pair of converse during the day or Chelsea boots.

Bobble Hats- Now the winter is getting a lot colder how could we not mention bobble hats? We literally live in hats as soon as the weather starts to get colder! We absolutely love the bobble hats in Primark they always have a great selection and they usually only cost £2- bargain. Marks and Spencer’s also sell bobble hats that are incredibly warm which will be perfect when it gets freezing cold.

Sports Direct- We have been loving sports direct this month, we have purchased lots of new workout clothes to make sure we are ready for our winter runs! We really needed some illumines clothes for when we run in the dark and we were impressed with the selection sports direct had on offer and they were a bargain as well! It’s cheaper to buy online, for example in store they will do 2 for £15 (at £8 each) but online the same items will be £7.50 each, so you don’t need to buy 2!! Although you have to pay for postage (£4.99) if you collect in store you get a £5 voucher to spend in so, so delivery is basically free.

Rimmel 107 Matte Lipstick- We feel it is essential to have a good red lipstick in your make up collection during the winter months and especially December. We were browsing the make up in Superdrug and remembered the Rimmel 107 Kate Moss lipstick we had a few seasons back, it’s a gorgeous deep red colour! The lipstick is matte so it can leave you with dry lips so we wouldn’t advise using if you prefer a moisturising lipstick.

Borough Market – we don’t live in central London, but close enough to visit when we want to! Funnily enough this month we have visited Borough Market twice! Borough Markets is located next to London Bridge and is open daily (except Sundays). From Monday to Wednesday is operates a ‘half’ market so if a bit smaller. This basically means that the food stalls/street food is open for all the office workers. On Thursday to Saturday it’s a full market with lots of stalls to visit. There are so many stalls from fruit and veg, cheese and meat. You can also treat yourself to mulled wine or prosecco or even a hog roast. There’s also a bakery school called Bread Ahead on the edge of the market and they have a stall too with some incredible bread to buy. We reccomend you visit if you have the chance!

What have you been loving this November?

Ladies who brunch in igloos

When we saw these igloos at Coppa Club advertised on Facebook we just had to go, and decided the best time to go would be brunch. You cannot beat a brunch on the weekend, and even better a boozy one! There are 4 Coppa Clubs in London, but the one at Tower Bridge has the igloos, and they are only around till February, so grab one quick!

If you want an igloo unfortunately you cannot book in advance now, so its first come first serve. We were told it would be an hour to an hour and a half wait. We waited in the bar with a hot chocolate and a tea, and then 40 minutes later were called to be seated – how ideal!

The igloos are so cool, some have one large table in them which sat sit around 8 people. Others have around 3 smaller tables in them with each table sitting 2-3 people. The igloos have ivy growing above them and also cute little fairy lights. They are also surpassingly warm, I guess as they are like little greenhouses so retain the heat. They also have a small heater in them and a speaker system. The igloos look over The Thames and you have perfect views of Tower Bridge and The Shard.

We decided to have the full english (the works skillet breakfast £9.45) accompanied with an elderflower & passionfruit spirtz. The breakfast was delicious with the highlight being the sausage! We couldn’t stop raving about it!!  The cocktail was also very tasty, but anything with elderflower and passionfruit is always a clear winner.

We then decided to be extra naughty and share the pancake stack, which was the best decision ever. The pancakes were super fluffy and served with maple syrup and bacon, the perfect end to the brunch. We even enjoyed another drink, perfect time for a mimosa.

We would throughly recommend Coppa Club for brunch, however the menu looks delicious and a couple in our igloo had the burgers which looked and smelt divine. We would love to return in the evening, when the igloos are all lit up, we can imagine it would all look pretty and also nice and romantic. Also we cannot mention the staff, and in particular our waitress – wish we had asked her name. She was so lovely and chatty and very attentive. It was also so relaxed and we never felt rushed to leave, we spend 3 hours in our little igloo!

Where would you suggest we go next for brunch?

The best part of Christmas is the build up and counting down to 25th December. We have scouted around and found our favourite alternative and someone unusual advent calendars that you can get your mits on this advent!

The chocolates have more protein than carbohydrates in them, and no artificial sweeteners of ingredients. The calendar is great to ensuring you are getting that extra protein in your diet on a daily basis, ideal for those fitnesses lovers (like ourselves) that enjoy My Protein products.

They come up with some great, unique flavours and of course Christmas flavours too. We love that they have created a tea advent calendar and this will go down a treat with tea lovers like ourselves! However get them quick at their 3rd and final batch is selling fast!

Gin Foundry  Gin Foundry have created Ginvent! We love it and oh wow, all those meme’s you see of those advent calendars with a bottle of wine a day has sort of come true! Imagine our delight when we can across this gin advent calendar. We both love a good gin and tonic so this advent calendar was a great surprise! The advent calendar can be bought from Amazon but will set you back £129.95! Eeeek!

Chunky Monkey Muffins

These are the simpliest muffins you can ever make, if you ever need to bake something quick, these are our go to option. Best served warm, they are deliciously light and fluffy with melting Cadbury chocolate – what more do you want?!

Ingredients

250g plain flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
85g white granulated sugar
1 egg
240ml milk
90ml sunflower oil
200g bar of Cadbury dairy milk, chopped

Method

1) preheat oven to 170 degrees and put muffin cases in a muffin tin
2) sift together the flour and baking powder into a large bowl then stir in the sugar, then stir in the chocolate
3) in a seperate bowl beat an egg and stir in the milk followed by the oil
4) add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. This should only take 30 seconds, the batter will look lumpy, but no dry flour should be visible
5) spoon into the muffin cases (3/4 full), and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until the tops are golden brown and spring back when pressed
6) allow to cool for several minutes and then enjoy warm (try not to eat them all at once!)

Chocolate chip muffins are an absolute classic, however there are so many variants of muffins to make from sweet to savoury. We are going to experiment with some different flavours, any reccomendations?

In a separate pan you will need to stew your Apples with the cinnamon and water until they are piping hot.
Stack the pancakes and add the topping.

GirlBOSS- Niomi Smart

We were browsing Eventbrite like we regularly do looking for interesting events to attend. If you don’t know what Eventbrite is it is a website where you can be the host of an event or purchase tickets for events (its great and we are so addicted it even featured in our September favourites). You use the search engine to type in the sort of events you want to attend and some are even free. When we came across the GirlBoss event with Niomi Smart we knew we had to attend.

We have been following Niomi across all her social media platforms for quite some time but if you don’t know who Niomi is she is a lifestyle Blogger and YouTuber. The tickets were just over £5 and the event was being held at the Hoxton in Shoreditch, a venue we had not been to before.

The event was due to start at 6:30PM and when we arrived (10 minutes late) everyone was already seated. We walked into the kitchen area to grab a drink and Niomi advised us on what drink we should choose. They had wine on offer but we opted for a delicious Sibberi water which was naturally flavoured with maple. We thought it was great that Niomi was there welcoming the guests as they arrived and it turns out she is even lovelier in real life.

Niomi is an incredibly genuine and inspiring girl and her attitude to life is truly infectious. We left the event feeling more motivated than ever. It’s all down to hard work, being consistent and being as authentic as possible in everything we post.

We will definitely be keeping an eye out for more GirlBoss events in the future and we think you should as well.

24 hours in Sydney

It has nearly been a year since I returned from my solo trip along the East Coast of Australia so it only seemed fitting to remember my time in Australia with a post about my favourite city – Sydney.

Sydney is without a doubt absolutely amazing, with shops, restaurants and even a beach what is not to love?!

img_8827

If we had 24 hours in the city there is so much we would love to do, it would be hard to fit it in but manageable for sure!

A great location to stay is around Central station as the transport links are fab. If we were staying here we would wake up and go to breakfast at Devon Cafe,  which serves delicious breakfast and a great affogato coffee. The breakfast here is quite unique with different flavour combinations. We would then head to Paddy’s Market for some browsing. This iconic market is huge and there lots of cool shops to browse. If we were staying in Kings Cross then we would wake up and go to breakfast at Uliveto, which has an amazing menu and great outdoor seating area.

We would then jump on the train and head to Circular Quay which gets you out right by Sydney Harbour Bridge. Although you can pay to walk across the top of the bridge, however you are also able to walk across the bridge for free from. From the Circular Quay side of the harbour you can start from The Rocks District, and follow a sign along George Street directing you towards a flight of stairs, take these stairs and your walk begins here! The walk might be long and when hot super sweaty but when in Sydney it’s something you have to do. Once at the other side walk to Milsons Point to take some pictures from the other side of the harbour.

Walk back along the bridge Pop to The Rocks District For a sport of lunch, there are some great Street food style restaurants here so lots to choose from, Dare is a good option, which offers Delicious And Responsible Eating. You can even sit and watch all the huge cruise liners arriving. Or eat at The Glenmore Hotel which serves pub grub and sit on the rooftop with amazing views of the Opera House (if you can get a seat on the right side!)

After lunch you can take a quick visit to Sydney Opera House to take some photos outside it! Then hop on the train to Bondi Junction and then take the 313 or 314 bus to Coogee. You will spend the afternoon doing the Coogee to Bondi walk. This is an amazing walk along the coast and is very easily signposted. The walk should take around 2 hours and has stunning views of the coast, and you will walk past lots of stunning quiet beaches, where you may want to stop and enjoy. End the walk chilling on Bondi Beach and maybe even treat yourself to some ice cream, give Gelato Messina a go!

Get back on either the 333, 380, 381, 382 bus to Bondi Junction or take the 333, 380, 389 straight to Circular Quay. Jump on a boat to Manly Beach, the Manly Fast Ferry is the quickest and only slightly more expensive! Walk straight down manly highstreet and checkout the beach. If you have time walk around the right hand side of the promenade to Shelly Beach which can often be a little quieter and in my opinion more beautiful as it’s like a little cove.

There are lots of places to choose for dinner depending on what cuisine you fancy.  Hugos serves wood-fired pizza and an amazing roof top terrace/bar. Or you can try Garfish and the clue is in the name to what you can eat here – seafood galore! This also has views to die for whilst enjoying your freshly caught fish!

Get the ferry back to Circular Quay whilst the sun sets over Sydney Harbour Bridge and snap some stunning pictures

If you are visiting on a Saturday head to Darling Harbour for the free amazing firework display to end the day in style!

We certainly packed a lot into the day in Sydney but sure made the most of what is to be seen in this amazing city and we hope you found this useful!
