Breakfast you either love it or you hate it! I used to hate breakfast now I cannot live without it. My mum would buy my sister and me anything just to try and get us to eat before school. The favourite was ready made chocolate crepes but even then I would trade mine with my sister so she would let me watch my favourite cartoon ‘As Told by Ginger’ (great show!).
When I started secondary schools things got even worse, I was waking up earlier and the thought of eating made me feel so sick. I would wake up at 7AM and sometimes not eat anything until 1oclock at school. I honestly do not know how I concentrated in class I must have been starving.
Waking up late at university meant that I usually did eat breakfast but it certainly wasn’t at the usual breakfast time more brunch than breakfast. At least I was getting into a routine of actually eating breakfast though we all have to start somewhere.
Finishing University and starting work was when I finally started to love breakfast. Waking up at 6 o’clock meant that by 9 I was absolutely starving. The restaurant at work was amazing and there were so many options it was like breakfast heaven.
Breakfast/ brunch has almost become more ‘popular’ in the last few years. Breakfast has become a social event just like going for dinner with your friends has always been. Living in London there are so many cafes and restaurants that have a bigger breakfast menu than they do lunch and dinner. If you love brunch this is great, but sometimes the price tag isn’t so great. You can end up going for breakfast/brunch and spending over £20 eating poached eggs on toast.
I have met so many people that also hate breakfast due to feeling sick so early in the morning. I definitely think it is something you almost have to train your body to cope with (bit extreme). Is breakfast the most important meal of the day? This is something that we are told time and time again, obviously all meals are important but breakfast is definitely the one that kick starts your day.
So what do you think is breakfast the most important meal of the day?
